Slow, sacred, intentional.
Postpartum is a rite of passage. It is a raw, wild, intimate dance of healing, expansion, love and grief. It has long been held in sacredness across many cultures. Though it has also been forgotten.
Woman have been told to bounce back, keep striving ahead and get back out there. I see it differently. Postpartum requires slowness, intentional rest and a shutting off of the outside world. The first forty days after birth will be reflected in the next forty years. Healing practices, special foods, community support and rest allows are woman to thrive in postpartum. It offers space for bonding, healing and meeting her new self and baby. Postpartum care begins in pregnancy. I believe pregnancy to be a time of planning, organising and establishing connections and community. We are so focused on birth that we often forget to prepare for the after realms.
In prenatal sessions we look toward the postpartum period, becoming educated on why postpartum care is so important. We learn how to tend to the physical, spiritual and emotional wellbeing of mother, baby and family after birth. We navigate ways in which your unique experience can be best supported, building community awareness and finding ways that suit your needs and capacity.
Postpartum begins immediately after the birth or baby and placenta. Care begins the day after birth.
Care is a melting pot of nutrient dense postpartum specific foods, herbal elixirs and remedies. It includes deep listening and presence, emotional support and spiritual companionship. Care is offered through warming therapies such as yoni steam, herbal baths, sitz bath, moxa and belly binding. It’s anchored through ceremonial bodywork weaving Mayan abdominal and Lomi Lomi massage. Postpartum care instills restful states to regulate and recover. It is ceremonious and meets the needs of each individual.
Postpartum care is a devotion from my heart and a collaboration with your community.
